Toric Orientation Marks
Current Cantor Barnard guidance states that the Toric orientation marks are located in the lower section of the lens:
15° apart
The:
Central line should be at 6 o’clock
when assessing lens orientation on the eye.
This information is primarily intended for the fitting professional and does not need to be presented as a customer-selectable option.

No.
Hydrocyl 38 is:
Single Vision Toric
and is not:
Multifocal
Cantor Barnard provides separate designs for Presbyopia and Multifocal correction, such as the:
PV Series
Colors and Tints
Hydrocyl may support:
- Visibility Tints
- Pastel Tints in selected materials
- Reactive Dye Tints in certain materials
- Opaque Tints in 67% material only
Therefore, Hydrocyl 38 should not be described as Opaque.
Cantor Barnard limits the Opaque option to the 67% material.
If the product is listed simply as:
Hydrocyl Toric 38%
without a specified tint, it is better to represent it as:
Clear or with a light Handling Tint
rather than as a brown cosmetic lens.
Fitting Procedure
The official Hydro & Zero 6 Ranges fitting guide includes Hydrocyl.
Before fitting, it recommends:
- Full Refraction
- Eye Examination
- Keratometry
- HVID measurement
- Diameter selection
- Base Curve selection
- BVD adjustment of spectacle power when required
- Laboratory consultation when assistance is required for Toric conversion or unusual parameters
Diameter Selection
As an initial starting point, Cantor Barnard recommends:
Diameter = HVID + 2.00 to 3.00 mm
The final diameter is then adjusted according to:
- Coverage
- Movement
- Centration
- Push-Up Test
Initial Base Curve Selection
The company fitting guide provides the following starting-point table:
Diameter | Steep K ≤7.70 | Average K 7.80–8.35 | Flat K ≥8.35 |
|---|
13.00 / 13.50 mm | +0.70 mm | +0.30 mm | +0.20 mm |
14.00 / 14.50 mm | +1.10 mm | +1.10 mm | +0.60 mm |
15.00 / 15.50 mm | +1.50 mm | +0.70 mm | +1.00 mm |
The values represent how much flatter the initial Base Curve may be selected relative to the:
Flattest K
as a starting point only.
They are not a final prescription.
Settling Time
After lens insertion:
Allow approximately 30 minutes
before the final fitting assessment.
Then evaluate:
- Comfort
- Centration
- Coverage
- Edge behavior
- Movement with Blink
- Push-Up Test
- Toric Orientation
- Over-Refraction
Good Fit
A good fit is characterized by:
- Good comfort
- Good centration
- Full limbal coverage
- Appropriate edge relationship
- Suitable movement with blinking
- Easy movement during the Push-Up Test
- Good return to the central position
Steep Fit
A steep fit may show:
- Good initial comfort
- Relatively good centration
- Very little or no movement
- Difficulty with the Push-Up Test
- Slow return to the central position
- Conjunctival indentation
- Blanching
Flat Fit
A flat fit may show:
- Poor comfort
- Poor centration
- Inadequate limbal coverage
- Edge stand-off
- Fluting
- Excessive movement
- An excessively easy Push-Up Test with poor return to the center
Replacement Schedule
Replacement: Up to 12 months maximum
or according to the assessment and recommendation of the eye care professional.
